Jubilee Women's Center Veggie Garden Installation

http://jwcenter.org/index.php/news-a-events/blog?start=35

Since April 2009 I have volunteered at Jubilee Women's Center, maintaining the grounds of the organization and housing. The staff of Jubilee approached me in August about planning a vegetable garden so that the residents could have continual fresh food and more of a connection with the beautiful grounds of the center. I designed a sustainable plan for the garden that utilizes stepping stones made from recycled glass, re-used burlap from a local coffee roaster, and drainage trenches for erosion control. I directed a large group of Microsoft volunteers, as part of the "Day of Caring" on September 11th, 2009 to build the garden space. I visit the center weekly to maintain the garden and I develop and teach seasonal workshops for the residents.
